Red light enforcement solution detect vehicles that drive straight through a red traffic light. The goal of this solution is to provide a list of potential red light violators including information such as: Vehicle Speed ; Pictures before, and during the red traffic light display, or a video record ; Indicate the red light status in each image ; Orange light duration before red light
A traffic light intersection can be monitored by detecting vehicles from the front or the rear depending on the chosen hardware set-up. The red-light crossing detection can either be done physically by using a direct wired connection between the traffic-light and our camera OR by using the AI included in our camera.
The physical connection brings a perfect precision and guarantee to receive the exact status and timing from the traffic light while the AI allows an easier set-up and provides more use cases and flexibility.
Furthermore, a virtual loop, also referred to as an ‘ROI’ (region of interest), can be predefined within the camera image. If the vehicle enters into this monitored ROI within a predetermined time window when the red traffic light time duration has been triggered, it is indeed possible to grab and define a potential violator and prove the infraction.
