About our Spot Speed

This spot speed module provides instantaneous vehicle speed using a combination of an ANPR camera and a radar at a single point of measurement.

It is possible to cover 2 lanes maximum depending on the camera and radar position. Various technologies can be deployed for this solution: radar, lidar, laser, video analytics, devices at ground level (inductive loops, piezoelectric tubes, magnetic sensor, ...).

Macq only provides two types of technologies for this use: video analysis and radar.

When using an ANPR camera combined with a radar, you can obtain instant speed with a high precision of more or less 3%. Both the ANPR camera and the radar are interfaced together and synchronized to provide highly accurate speed data and the corresponding vehicle number plate.

1. Instant Vehicle Speed Detection

Macq’s Spot Speed module provides real-time vehicle speed measurement at a single point using a combination of ANPR cameras and radar. This allows authorities to obtain highly accurate speed data (+/- 3% with video, +/-1% with radar) for vehicles, including their license plates, ensuring precise enforcement and monitoring.

Unlike other solutions that rely on intrusive or multiple technologies, Macq leverages only radar and advanced video analytics, minimizing infrastructure complexity while maintaining high accuracy. Both the ANPR camera and radar are synchronized, allowing precise speed capture alongside vehicle identification, and optionally, make and model recognition.

Capable of monitoring up to two lanes simultaneously depending on setup, the module is suitable for highways, urban roads, and intersections.
