Macq Joins the European Mobility Week 2024!

The European Mobility Week is a dynamic campaign aimed at promoting sustainable mobility across Europe. Held annually, it encourages cities and towns to implement and highlight initiatives that foster eco-friendly transportation options and reduce car usage, particularly in urban areas.

This year, the theme is "Shared Public Spaces," focusing on how we can collectively design and use public spaces to ensure that everyone, especially pedestrians and cyclists, can move safely and comfortably in a pleasant environment.

Macq is excited to participate in the European Mobility Week this year, contributing to the vision of more sustainable and accessible mobility solutions.

Success Story Namur

In September 2020, Namur, the capital of Wallonia, faced significant issues with traffic congestion and environmental pollution. As the third most congested city in Belgium, Namur needed a transformative solution. Enter the Smart Traffic Management System (STI), launched in partnership with ENGIE and Macq.

Here’s how STI made a difference:

🚦 Reduced Traffic: Real-time monitoring eased congestion, making commutes smoother and faster.

🌍 Promoted Multimodality: The system encouraged the use of public transit, cycling, and other sustainable transport options.

🌱 Environmental Improvement: Efficient traffic management led to a significant reduction in vehicle emissions and cleaner air.

🛡️ Enhanced Safety: Dynamic signage and real-time updates helped keep roads safer for everyone.

By integrating advanced ANPR cameras, air quality sensors, and dynamic signage, STI has transformed urban mobility in Namur, setting a benchmark for smart city solutions. This project not only improved traffic flow and safety but also contributed to a healthier urban environment.
